DOG PAY
Client: PURINA Bakers
Dogs are part of the family and, to bring them even closer to their owners, we gave them the opportunity have some pocket money to shop at their favourite pet store. All of this was possible thanks to a new contactless payment technology that worked through their ID chip.
A Bluetooth-enabled low-frequency RFID scanner allowed connection to a payment system for processing of purchases. The physical technology was accompanied by a cloud-based system, linking each dog’s unique ID to a pre-paid account which could be managed online by owners.
I worked on the prototype at the concept stage, finding the third party microchip scanners able to interface via Bluetooth. A NodeJS server running on RaspberryPi was managing the communication with both the microchip scanner and the cloud service, in addition to serving the frontend interface to the tablet-powered till.
